Raiffeisenbank Czech Open Golf Tour 2024

The Raiffeisenbank Czech Open Golf Tour 2024 concluded its qualifying phase on August 31st at Čeladná. The fourth tournament was dominated by professional Tereza Koželuhová and Matúš Cedzo. As the best Czech amateur of the tournament, Cedzo also earned a playing card for the Penati Slovak Open 2024. The tournament was highlighted by Patrik Grulich's hole-in-one.

The winners from Čeladná can now look forward to the Grand Final in Beřovice on September 13-15, where only the top 45 men and 27 women from the current Raiffeisenbank Czech Open Golf Tour 2024 rankings will compete, based on their two best-scoring finishes from the four tournaments played. They will be joined by three men and three women with wild cards.

Professional golfer Tereza Koželuhová celebrated her debut win on the Čeladná course: “The course was beautifully prepared. I had never played here before, so this was my first time. But I like these technical courses. The greens were a bit tricky, but the shorter course offered scoring opportunities. The first day went well; I shot -4, but on the second day, I messed up the back nine and finished with +1. Today, I scored +3 because I unfortunately hit the water on the island 15th hole. The pins were also very tough, so I didn’t score as well as I could have. But it was enough to win, and I’m really happy about it.” Koželuhová secured the victory with an overall even par and rounds of 68, 73, and 75. Four strokes behind the winner was the best amateur, Anna Cellerová, while Lucie Váchová took third place with a score of +5 after rounds of 77, 69, and 75.

The top amateur Matúš Cedzo described his winning journey through the tournament: “I honestly have no idea how I managed to play the front nine. The putts just kept dropping. It’s not exactly a comfortable feeling to tee off on the 10th when you’re already -7 after the first nine holes, knowing there are still nine more to go, and anything can happen. In the end, I finished at -5, and that first round really helped me. It gave me a good position for the following rounds, and I managed to hold onto it until the last hole, which was enough to win.”

Matúš Cedzo had previously delivered a great performance at the Czech Open in Beroun, where he missed being the best amateur by just one stroke and a chance to enter the WAGR rankings. “I wanted to build on my strong showing in Beroun and accomplish what I couldn’t finish there. I’m really happy it all came together here. I played great golf throughout the entire tournament. I entered the third round tied for second, just one shot behind the leader, and right on the first hole, I made an eagle, taking the lead. I’m glad I didn’t crumble in the final round and managed to finish it off.”

Matúš Cedzo celebrated victory with a score of -7 (67, 73, 69), securing a spot in the WAGR rankings, and as the best Czech amateur of the fourth RB COGT, he earned a place in Slovakia’s most prestigious professional tournament, the Penati Slovak Open 2024.

Joining Cedzo on the podium were Václav Švub, who finished second with a score of -6 (70, 72, 68), and Petr Janík, one shot behind in third with -5 (67, 73, 71).

Fourteen-year-old Patrik Grulich made a name for himself on Saturday with his first-ever hole-in-one. His sensational shot came on the par-3 third hole. “It was my first hole-in-one ever, and it happened on a course I had never played before. The third hole is a really long par-3 for me, where I have to hit a 5-wood. I’m overjoyed that it went in. I’ve instantly taken a liking to Čeladná and its Old Course,” the young golfer commented on his life-changing shot.
